手术前有计划地对原发肿瘤及附近浸润病灶或区域转移淋巴结进行的放射治疗。放射剂量用根治剂量的1/2或2/3。其作用是使肿瘤缩小，提高切除率和根治切除率；降低癌细胞活力，减少手术造成的局部种植和淋巴、血行播散；使原发肿瘤及附近转移淋巴结和亚临床病灶得到程度不同的控制，缩小手术范围。适用于可手术治疗并对放射线敏感的患者。
