用于供给药物，治疗肠疾病，或从直肠给予消炎药及镇静剂等的一种治疗方法。从直肠给予营养剂或透析电解质液亦采取保留灌肠。方法：病人取左侧卧位，两腿屈曲，治疗巾放在病人臀下。灌肠液38℃左右为宜。用手纸沾凡士林滑润导尿管，排出管内气体。将导尿管慢慢插入肛门达7～8cm后，用静脉输液器接于插入肠内和导尿管即可。速度一般为每分钟40～50滴。滴完后病人须安静仰卧，以助吸收。
