此法为子宫颈癌普查时筛检的主要方法之一。方法：以窥阴器暴露子宫颈，用木质刮板沿子宫颈外口鳞柱交界处轻轻刮一圈，刮取之分泌物顺着一个方向、均匀地、薄薄地涂于玻璃片上，立即用95%的酒精固定，经巴氏染色，显微镜下仔细观察，寻找有无癌细胞或其他异常。凡已婚妇女均应定期作防癌宫颈涂片细胞学检查，以达到早期发现、早期治疗之目的。
