该疗法为治疗子宫内膜异位症的一种方法，用药物抑制下丘脑促性腺激素释放激素，并抑制垂体促性腺激素的合成和释放，直接抑制卵巢甾体类激素的产生，促使体内造成低雌、孕激素环境，子宫内膜萎缩形成短暂闭经，异位的子宫内膜同样萎缩吸收，又防止了经期经血逆流而造成的子宫内膜种植。如使用丹那唑治疗，每日3次每次200mg。
