性状描述:胆甾醇-水合物(C27H46O·H2O)为折色或淡黄色有珠光的片状结晶。70-80℃成无水物。无水物熔点148.5℃,沸点360℃(部分分解),相对密度1.052(19/19℃)。20℃时,醇中溶解度1.29g/100g,热乙醇28g/100g。该品1g能溶于2.5ml醚;4.5ml氯仿;1.5,ml吡啶,也溶于苯;石油醚及油脂等,几乎不溶于水(约0.2mg/100ml),在空气中缓缓氧化变黄,熔点和溶解度也随之改变。

生产方法:由猪脑(及脊髓)或羊脑提取。

用途:用作乳化剂,人造牛黄、维生素D、液晶、合成激素的原料,用于生化研究。
