一种原因未明，可能是免疫功能紊乱的疾病。在上消化道粘膜、肌层及浆膜层有广泛的嗜酸性粒细胞浸润，临床表现为消化不良，腹痛、腹泻，甚至不全性肠梗阻和腹水等。严重时可因缺铁性贫血，低蛋白血症而致全身浮肿。白细胞增多，嗜酸性粒细胞可达65～85％。X线片示结节状胃肠粘膜皱襞粗大，但亦有广泛炎症而X线检查正常。病程可达10余年，但易反复，最后亦有以淋巴瘤而死亡的。
