合欢为含羞草科合欢属，落叶乔木，是城市绿化的主要树种。适应多种气候条件，喜光，对土壤适应能力强。好生于湿润、肥沃、排水良好的土壤，耐干旱瘠薄和轻度的盐碱、浅根性、萌芽力差，不耐修剪。
合欢种子椭圆形，扁平，长0.7-0.8CM,熟时深褐色，种子千粒重约40克，每公斤25000粒左右，发芽率60-70%，常用播种繁殖。育苗地选择肥沃、湿润的砂壤土，春天播种，播种前种子在温水中浸种2-3天，然后混沙催芽，等种子开始萌动时下地，播后10天左右发芽出土。条播行距约25厘米，每亩播种量6-8斤，覆土厚0.5-1厘米。营养钵点播3公斤左右。
幼苗高10-15厘米时进行间苗，条播苗每米留5-6株，营养钵点播株距定为20厘米。培育过程中，需注意排水，幼苗易倾斜，必要时可栽竹竿扶直。（源自：中国林业网）
