【性状】
本品呈不规则块状，淡黄色至黄棕色，半透明或不透明。质脆，断面具 光泽。气香，味淡。
【鉴别】
(1) 取本品少量，用微火灼烧，有多烟火焰，具特异香气。 (2) 取本品约50mg，置试管中，加四氯化碳 5ml，振摇使溶解，沿管壁加硫酸2ml, 两液接界处显红色环。 (3) 取本品约0.2g，加四氯化碳5ml,振摇使成混悬液，加硝酸3ml,轻轻摇匀，待分 层，上层液显淡红色至红橙色。
【性味与归经】
辛、微苦，平。归肺、脾经。
【功能与主治】
活血止痛，解毒，生肌，凉血。用于跌扑损伤，痈疽肿痛，吐血 ，衄血，外伤出血。
【用法与用量】
1.5～3g,宜入丸散服；外用适量。
【贮藏】
密团，置阴凉处。
