在壮族的文体技艺中最妙趣横生的就是像军阵般有威有势的"板鞋竞技"和"扳鞋舞"。板鞋竞技是以几个人为一队，大家同穿一对长板鞋赛跑；参加者必须步调一致，同心全力，谁要是一个不少心，就会令全队人仰马翻。相传板鞋舞源自明代。嘉靖年间，壮族女英雄瓦氏夫人率领广西郎兵赴浙江抗击倭寇，她用三人缚腿赛跑的方法训练郎兵，使得军纪严明、同心协力，后来便演变成这种有趣的运动了。
