【来源】
为桃金娘科植物赤楠的根或根皮。
【植物形态】
赤楠 灌木，高1～6米。茎多分枝；树皮茶褐色；小枝四方形。叶革质，对生，偶有3片轮生，倒卵形或阔卵形，长1～3厘米，宽0.5～3厘米，先端钝，基部楔形，全缘，羽状侧脉细小，下面隆起，无毛，具散生腺点，叶具短柄。聚伞花序顶生或腋生，长2～4.5厘米；花白色；萼倒圆锥形，裂片4，短而钝；花瓣4，分离；雄蕊多数.浆果卵圆形，径6～10毫米，成熟时紫黑色，顶端冠以宿存萼檐；内有种子1颗。花期5～6月。果期9～10月。 生于山坡疏林、灌木丛中和峡谷溪旁。分布广东、广西、福建、台湾、浙江、安徽、江西、湖南、贵州等地。

夏、秋采收。

《贵州草药》："性平，味甘。"
【功用主治】
健脾利湿，乎喘，散瘀。治浮肿，小儿盐哮，跌打损伤，烫伤。 ①《植物名实图考》："能散血。" ②《广西药植名录》："根：治汤火伤，跌打。叶：治手指疮。" ③《贵州草药》："健脾利湿，平喘。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，0.5～1两。外用：捣敷或研末敷。

①治浮肿：赤楠根皮一两。煨水服。(《贵州草药》) ②治小儿盐哮：赤楠根一两。煨水服。(《贵州草药》)
