能够迅速由正向导通状态转变为反向阻断状态的整流二极管。其结构、伏安特性和电路符号与整流二极管相同。工作于交变电压场合时，二极管正向导通产生的储存载流子在该器件变为反向阻断时必须衰减消失，这就是反向恢复过程。如果这一过程比较长，外加电压的交变频率又比较高，则在负半周期间来不及将储存载流子全部抽出，器件未能达到反向阻断状态，将导致整流特性变坏以至失去整流作用。为减少反向恢复时间，通常采用向硅单晶内掺入起复合中心作用的杂质原子（如金等），加速储存载流子减少的速度。这样，反向恢复时间可以减少到1微秒以内，甚至可达到5～10纳秒。快速整流二极管主要用于高频整流电路、斩波器、逆变器等。
