【名词解释】
案头调研(desk research)是市场调研术语，对已经存在并已为某种目的而收集起来的信息进行的调研活动，也就是对二手资料进行搜集、筛选，并据以判断他们的问题是否已局部或全部地解决。案头调研是相对于实地调研而言的。通常是市场调研的第一步，为开始进一步调研先行收集已经存在的市场数据。
【操作实务】
成功的进行案头调研的关键是发现并确定二手资料的来源。二手资料的来源很多，归纳起来有以下几种：1.企业内部资料：包括企业内部门的资料，如存货清单、财务报告、销售记录、顾客函电等，调研人员积累的材料也届此类。2.政府资料：各国政府均相互审理常驻机构，其中一项重要职责就是促进相互商务往来，从事市场信息和系统资料的收集和传播工作。通过我驻外的商务机构和外国驻华的商务机构，可系统地收集到各国的市场情报，如贸易统计资料、进出口商名录等；3.国际组织、行业协会、商会所公布的资料：如联合国国际贸易中心提供特种产品的研究、各国的市场概况以及各国"促进进口办公室"名单和服务范围等方面的资料；许多行业协会定期收集、甚至出版一些有关本行业的产品信息；商会能为营销调研人员提供会员名称表、会员企业基本情况等资料。我国的对外贸易促进委员会和各专业性商会经常发布贸易信息并组织对外展览等活动。 此外，二手资料的来源还有银行、调研机构、消费者组织、图书馆等等，这些都是在实际工作中需要不断扩大的信息来源。 实地调研法指由调研人员或委托专门的调研机构通过发放问卷、面谈、电话调查等方式收集、整理并分析第一手资料的过程。
