一种双苄基四氢异喹啉生物碱。其分子式为C37H42N2O6。它存在于睡莲科植物莲子的胚芽(称为莲心)中,莲心是一种常用的中草药。
莲心碱为白色无定形粉末;熔点95~99℃,比旋光度(丙酮);易溶于氯仿、甲醇和乙醇,不溶于乙醚和水。它与无机酸或有机酸不易生成结晶盐。只有高氯酸盐可以得到结晶,其熔点212~214℃,(丙酮);易溶于丙酮、热的甲醇和乙醇,不溶于水和乙醚。
1962~1966年中国化学家高怡生等确定了莲心碱的化学结构式。莲心碱有短暂的降压作用,由它制备的甲基季铵盐的降压作用强而持久。中医用莲心解热。
