人烧伤后产生大量的毒性极强的对线粒体呼吸和内膜功能具有抑制作用的一种大分子量的脂蛋白复合物。它对免疫功能的影响广泛。它可以呈剂量依赖性地抑制集落刺激因子的产生及骨髓干细胞增殖，引起粒细胞生成功能障碍；它可以抑制PWM诱导的人外周血淋巴细胞产生IgG，抑制PHA诱导的淋巴细胞产生IL-2，抑制IL-2依赖细胞株的增殖；它还可以抑制小鼠对绵羊红细胞的体内抗体产生反应，其抑制作用较细菌内毒素强1000倍。由此可见，皮肤烧伤毒素可能是烧伤组织产生的活性极强的免疫抑制物质，这些抑制作用可被其抗体消除。
