中国鱼类学家。原名朱继绍。浙江省宁波市人。生于1896年10月2日,卒于1986年12月19日。1920年毕业于东吴大学
1934年获美国密歇根大学哲学博士学位1920～1952年在上海圣约翰大学任教，曾任生物系主任、研究院院长、理学院院长、代理教务长等职。1952年以来，历任上海水产学院海洋渔业研究室主任，上海水产学院院长、名誉院长，东海水产研究所所长，副理事长、名誉理事长，中国海洋湖沼学会名誉理事长，中国鱼类学会名誉理事长，中国动物学会理事，《水产学报》主编。他长期从事中国的分类与形态学研究。1931年将有关中国鱼类的文献整理成《中国鱼类索引》，为研究中国鱼类分类提供了基础资料。1935年发表《中国鲤科鱼类之鳞片、咽齿与其牙齿之比较研究》，论述了鱼类演化和形态变化的关系，为鲤科鱼类分类提供了科学依据。1963年他和他的学生发表《中国石首鱼类分类系统的研究和新属新种的叙述》，以鳔的分枝和耳石形态变化
结合外部形态特征作为分类依据,使中国石首鱼类的分类系统趋于自然化。1979年他和助手合著《中国软骨鱼类的侧线管系统以及罗伦瓮和罗伦管系统》提出了新的中国软骨鱼类分类系统。此外还著有《中国软骨鱼类志》（1960）及论文40余篇。他是《中国大百科全书?农业》卷分编委会副主任兼水产学科编写组主编，《南海鱼类志》(1962)和《东海鱼类志》(1963)的主编之一，《南海诸岛海域鱼类志》(1979)的编写人之一和《福建鱼类志》的主编。曹正之 施鼎钧
