植物形态：多年生亚灌木状草本，高达60厘米。根茎粗大，呈不规则块状，横走，淡黄褐色，周围密生纤维状须根。茎直立，不分枝，幼茎上散生白色短柔毛。叶互生或近对生，长椭圆形或倒卵状长椭圆形，长8~15厘米，宽2.5~7.5厘米，基部楔形或宽楔形，并下延成叶柄，顶端渐尖或骤尖，表面淡绿色，散生白色硬毛，毛的基部稍膨大，贴生，背面淡绿色，仅脉上疏生硬毛，边缘具较整齐的粗齿牙，齿端不具短凸头，侧脉8~10对，于两面均稍隆起，茎下部叶柄长2~3.5厘米，上部渐短或几无柄。花白色或淡红色，顶生伞房花序，花序周围不孕花较显著，常由2片或3片花瓣状萼片组成；单性花萼及花瓣均4~5数，雄蕊约15枚，子房下位，3室。蒴果近球形。 生态分布：产我国中部，多生于山谷林阴下，岩石边或山坡草地。 药用部分：根茎入药，夏秋采收。 用途：用于跌打损伤。
