性质:又称咳宁醇,甲基肌醇,蒎立醇,山扁豆醇。白色颗粒状结晶(甲醇),味甜。熔点186~188℃。旋光度+65.5°(c=1,水)。易溶于水,难溶于甲醇、乙醇,不溶于丙酮和乙醚等极性小的溶媒。天然存在于松科植物糖松(Pinus lambertiana Dougl.)的心材,豆科植物截叶铁扫帚[Les-pedeza cuneata (Dum.Cours.)G.Don]的全草或带根全草,银杏科植物银杏(Ginkgo biloba Linn.)的花粉等植物中。药理及临床使用证明,本品有止咳、祛痰的作用。鼠口服5mg,其镇咳作用与可待因2mg相当。
