AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK ) is recognized as a major regulator of lipid biosynthetic pathway due to its role in the phosphorylation and inactivation of key enzymes such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and β-hydroxy-β-methylglutary-CoA reductase (HMGR) , as a result, triglyceride and choles.

性质:抑制HMG-CoA还原酶(EC1.1.1.88)活性的物质,如康白丁、拉伐他丁等,抑制胆固醇生物合成的重要中间体—甲羟戊酸酯的生成反应。该反应是由乙酰辅酶A合成胆固醇的限速步骤。这类抑制剂在临床上可用作降血脂和降胆固醇药以及动脉粥样硬化病预防药。
