性质:是一类在进化上十分保守的蛋白质。大体可分为90kD、60kD、小分子HSP以及泛(激)素(ubiquitin)等四大类。各类HSP又由多种不同形式或不同程度修饰的蛋白质分子所组成。除升温会引起HSP的表达外,多种化学物质,如乙醇、氨基酸类似物、重金属、巯基试剂,物理因素如冷或缺氧等,甚至机械损伤,以及病毒、寄生虫等的侵袭都可诱导HSP的产生。它们在机体中参与广泛的机体保护功能以及在细胞的正常发育中起重要作用。甚至参与蛋白质折叠、亚基的组装、细胞内运输及蛋白质降解等。因此有人认为HSP是一种分子伴侣(molecular chaperone)或称伴侣蛋白(chaperonine)。在真核生物中HSP大体上有下列几个方面的功能:(1)调节ATP供能系统有关的活性;(2)活化或封闭某些重要蛋白质的多聚化活性和功能;(3)细胞中依赖于ATP的蛋白质选择性降解。
