自来水中投加一定浓度的氟化物作为预防龋齿的一种措施。所用的氟化物有氟化钠、氟硅酸钠、氟化钙等。目前对饮水加氟问题尚有争论。由于过量氟可引起中毒,有人主张氟化饮水要审慎从事,需先查清当地居民每天从饮水、食品、空气摄入的总氟量后,再确定是否需要加氟及加氟量。
