是食管固有肌层的良性肿瘤。食管胸部中、下段常见，颈段罕见。肿瘤位于食管壁中，边界锐利呈圆形或椭圆形，外观光滑，结节状及分叶状。症状为较长时期的轻微吞咽困难和胸背钝痛。胸部X线摄片可见肿瘤阴影，食管钡剂造影可见充盈缺损，边缘光滑锐利，与正常食管截然分开，食管镜见食管黏膜完好，有实体肿瘤在黏膜下活动感觉。这都有助于诊断。治疗原则为除有手术禁忌证外，均应手术切除。
