To determine the co-localization of immunoreactivity for purinergic receptor (P2X_2, P2X_3 subunits), calretinin and isolectin B4 (IB4) in sensory neurons of the rat glossopharyngeal and vagal sensory ganglia, triple fluorescent histochemistry combined with laser scanning confocal microscope techniques were used.

Clinical anatomy of the glossopharyngeal nerve in lateral skull base;

The study were to obtain more useful detailed microanatomic information of the Glossopharyngeal nerve in the lateral skull base and the spatial relationships of surrounding structures, to provide some special information about the morphology and topography of the Glossopharyngeal Nerve (GphN) and its branches ,for the location and protection in surgery of lateral skull base.
