【来源】
为大戟科植物毛果巴豆的叶、根。
【植物形态】
毛果巴豆 灌木，高1～1.5米，被灰黄色星状柔毛。叶互生，纸质；矩圆形或卵状矩圆形，通常长5～8厘米，有时长于此数之2倍，宽2～3厘米，先端短尖或锐尖或稍钝，边缘小锯齿上有腺点，基部阔楔形，近叶柄部有2腺点；被柔毛，老时上面近秃净；叶柄长6～10毫米。花单性；总状花序顶生，长7～16厘米；苞片小，锥尖，全缘；雄花簇生花序的上部，直径约2毫米，萼5裂，花瓣5片，矩圆形，雄蕊10～12，着生于被毛的花盘上；雌花数朵生于花序基部，萼5裂，长2毫米，花瓣极小，锥尖，子房被毛，3室，每室有胚珠1颗，花柱2裂。蒴果径达1厘米，被星状茸毛与长的粗毛。花期5月。 生于山坡和灌丛中。分布我国南部。

全年可采。
【药材】
干燥叶带有少部分嫩枝，叶纸质，矩圆形或卵状矩圆形，叶面秃净，暗红色，背面被星状毛，黄绿色；边缘锯齿上有腺点，基出3脉，侧脉羽状，每边3～4，近叶柄部有腺点。气微。以枝少、无杂质者佳。 产广东。
【化学成分】
根含生物碱、酚类与三萜。
【性味】
辛苦，温。有毒。 ①《广东中药》Ⅱ："辛，温。有毒。" ②广州部队《常用中草药手册》："辛苦，温。有小毒。"
【功用主治】
①《广东中药》Ⅱ："驱风解毒。治蛇咬伤，皮肤瘙痒，风湿脚痛。" ②《广东中草药》："祛风去湿，散瘀止痛，消肿解毒。治风湿性关节炎，肌肉痹痛，产后风瘫，带状疱疹，跌打肿痛，脓肿，癝疽，毒蛇咬伤。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，3～5钱；或浸酒。外用：水煎洗，捣烂或研末调敷。
【宜忌】
孕妇忌用。
