X线设备的元件之一。产生X线的装置，可将电能、动能转变为高能电磁波(光能)。X线管具有产生X线所必备的三个基本条件：①电子源。②阳极靶。③高速电子流。X线管主要由阴极、阳极和管壳三部分组成，按其获得电子的方式不同分为两种基本类型：含气X线管和热电子X线管。前者是最原始的X线管，因会产生大量的不可控制的次级电子，使X线量不能任意控制，仅使用了十余年即被淘汰。现代医学领域使用的都是高真空热电子式X线管。无论获得电子的形式如何，当管两极加一高压，则电子就会向阳极高速运动形成阴极射线，阴极射线撞击阳极靶面，将动能传给靶物质的原子壳层电子，发生激发和跃迁，产生X线。依应用范围不同，X线管可分为：普通X线管、治疗X线管、CT-X线管及其他应用领域专用的X线管。并且，随着X线设备及应用技术的进步，X线管的构造和设计也不断改进。
