性哲学(sex philosophy)为一门研究性关系的实质及性爱变迁所遵循的基本规律的学科。其基本问题仍然是物质与意识的关系问题。任何社会的存在和发展都要依赖于物质资料的生产，物质资料的生产要以一定数量的人口为先决条件。人类的性活动就成为形成适量人口并作为社会生产力的主导因素。物质资料的生产和人类的生产，是社会历史发展的决定因素，男女性关系的演变，总是同物质资料生产方式的发展联系在一起，并且被物质生产方式的发展所决定。性关系是一个客观存在，性活动也是人类实践形式的一种。性活动既体现出人与自然的关系，又体现出人与人的关系。因此，性关系在不同程度上以不同的方式也被反映到精神产品中来。性爱，作为一种客观存在，既有自然属性，又有社会属性，从而形成人类性生活的基本动力之一。自从3 000多年前古希腊德尔斐神庙前出现了“认识你自己”的铭文以来，对性的哲学思考就开始产生。从古希腊的赫西俄德、柏拉图、亚里士多德，到中世纪的经院哲学，从近代的康德、黑格尔、费尔巴哈，到现代的尼采、弗洛伊德、波伏瓦，在各派哲学思想中都有对性哲学的不同理解。辩证唯物主义和历史唯物主义第一次把人类的性关系作为社会历史发展的重要因素之一来看待，提出并发展了“两种生产”的理论，使性哲学以崭新的面貌呈现出来。 (邓明i撰匪三互审)
