物种特征:描述：体型略大（29厘米）、头部色浅带纵纹的拟啄木鸟。体羽多绿色，头及颈淡黄褐色，头及下体多纵纹为本种识别特征。 虹膜－草黄色；嘴－浅黄色；脚－黄色。 叫声：无规律低音bul?tok?-? bul?tok叫声，间隔约1秒；也有响亮的kuerr?kuerr叫声，另有一种奇罕的"数数声叫"，包括一个长颤音接以一连串的四音节颤音。 分布范围：喜马拉雅山脉西部至印度东北部、东南亚、爪哇及巴厘岛。 分布状况：亚种hodgsoni在云南南部及西南部的低地有记录。地方性常见，在西藏东南部可能也有分布。 习性：如其他拟啄木鸟，但在相对干燥、开阔、有林生境较常见。 注：郑作新（1987）将此鸟归入M. zeylanica。
