《医学纲目》是元明间楼英所撰写 ,在嘉庆 4 4年 (15 6 5 )刊行流布的一本在编撰体例上很有特色的中医书籍。

宋代在对历史资料和书籍的编辑方面,在继承前人成果、经验、方法的基础上加以创新,建立了一套完整的历史编纂学体系,在史料编纂方面取得了重要成果;创立了"纪事本末体"和"纲目体"的史书编纂新体式;郑樵的《通志》在纪传体通史方面有重大的继承与创新,"自成一家言"。

| 《本草纲目》 中国古代药学史上部头最大 、 内容最丰富的药学巨著。明代李时珍撰成于1578年，初刊于1593年。全书共52卷，载药1892种（李氏新增药物374种）。书中附有药物图1109幅，方剂11096首(其中8000余首是李氏自己收集和拟定的)。《本草纲目》以药物的天然来源及属性为纲，将药物分为16部，同一部药物，又以相似的类别为目，分为60类目，这一本草条目的分类叙述方法，使读者一目了然，具有一定的科学价值。每种药物分列释名、集解、正误、修治、气味、主治、发明、附方等项。书中不仅考证了明代以前本草中的若干错误，综合了大量的科学资料，也提出了较科学的药物分类法 。本书还载叙了大量宝贵的医学资料 ，除去大量附方、验方及治验病案外，还有一些有用的医学史料，其中属于首次记录的治疗技术有冰块冷敷退热法、蒸汽消毒法以及辛烈香窜原料熏烟消毒法等。本书不仅是一部药物学著作，还是一部具有世界性影响的博物学著作，书中涉及的内容极为广泛，在生物、化学、天文、地理、地质、采矿乃至于历史方面都有一定的成就。该书被译成多种文字。1949年后有影印本和校勘排印本。
