Methods:1 395 patients with essential hypertension were investigated in rural areas with food frequency questionnaires and the impact of the dietary habits to the baseline of blood pressure of essential hypertension was determined by one-way factor and stepwise regression analysis.

In order to investigate the situation of food intake, diet habit and dietary pattern in people living in different “cuisine” areas of China, and to search for the relations between diet and health status, a total of 538 subjects (269 couples) aged between 50-60 years in four rural areas were surveyed by a food frequency questionnaire method.
