（术语）佛法之护摩有二种，择地作坛，以世火烧共物乳木，为外护摩，自身为坛，以如来之智火烧烦恼之薪，为内护摩。是云出世护摩，世谛护摩，事护摩，理护摩。而作世谛之事护摩，亦添理性之内观也。大日经秘密曼陀罗品曰：“护摩有二种：所谓内及外。”大日经疏十五曰：“阿阇梨即作内护摩。若浅行人即作外法，而究竟为内法因。”瑜只经疏中曰：“或直用内，能得成就，若直用外，不得成就。故作外法，必作内法。”大日经疏八曰：“若真言行者，但作世谛护摩，不解此中密意，则与韦陀火祀不相滥耶，故译者兼智之名，庶令浅深二释义用兼举。”
