【视黄醛】(retinal)亦称“维生素A醛”。分子式`C_20H_28O`,分子量284.44。橙色结晶(从石油醚中析出)。已知有六种立体异构体,其中全反式最稳定。熔点61-64℃。不溶于水,溶于乙醇、氯仿、环己烷、石油醚及油。最初从视网膜中分离取得,后由`\beta`-胡萝卜素氧化制得。其生理效应与视觉有关,一般认为它在光照作用下能引起快速的顺式-反式异构化反应。
