【性状】
本品呈方块状或圆柱状。棕黄色、灰棕色或棕黑色。质硬。气微腥，味 苦。
【鉴别】
(1) 本品粉末淡黄棕色。薄壁细胞类圆形，充满糊化淀粉粒。草酸钙针 晶束长20～90μm 。螺纹及环纹导管直径8～60μm。 (2) 取本品粉末0.2g，加水5ml ，振摇，滤过，取滤液2ml 置试管中，加新制的糠 醛溶液(1→100)0.5ml,沿管壁加硫酸2ml ，两液接界处即显棕红色环。
【性味与归经】
苦、微辛，凉。归肺、肝、脾经。
【功能与主治】
清热化痰，息风定惊。用于痰热咳嗽，咯痰黄稠，中风痰迷，癫 狂惊痫。
【用法与用量】
3～6g 。
【贮藏】
置通风干燥处，防蛀。
