描述DebregeasiaGaud.水麻属，荨麻科，5种，分布于北非和东南亚，我国有4种，产西南至东南，其中水麻D.edulis（sieb.etZucc.）Wedd.的果可食，纤维可编绳。灌木或小乔木；叶互生，基部3出脉；托叶2裂；花单性同株或异株，先排成球形的团伞花序，再排成腋生聚伞花序；雄花被4裂；雄蕊4；退化雌蕊无毛或被绵毛；雌花有一卵状或壶形的花被，果时增大，肉质多浆，口部收缩；子房直立，花柱短或无，柱头头状；果实由许多瘦果结成一圆头状体。
