植物形态：多年生常绿缠绕性小藤本，长达2米。根茎细长，达1米许，中部具有1~9枚球形，椭圆形成串相连的块根，表皮黄色或浅绿色，里面白色。嫩茎疏被短毛。叶亚革质，互生，长三角形，长4~15厘米，宽2~4厘米，先端尖，基部箭形，全缘，叶脉突起，基出脉5~7条，侧脉5~7对，叶柄长2~5厘米。花紫红色，单性异株，腋生总状花序，花萼6枚，2轮，花瓣5~6枚，广卵圆形；雄蕊6枚，子房上位，1室。浆果略呈圆形。 生态分布：产我国长江以南至两广、西安各省；多生于沟谷阔叶林边和岩石缝。 药用部分：块根入药，9~10月采收。 用途：性味苦，寒。能消炎解毒。治疮肿毒，咽喉急痹，烂目，耳胀热咳，风瘴吐衄，蛇蝎虫伤。用量：1~3钱。
