拨奏弦鸣乐器。缅甸古代宫廷的拨弦乐器，现仍流传于民间。中国唐代称为"鼍首筝"，清代称为"密穹总"，即mí-gyaùng saung的译音。"mí-gyaùng"意为鳄鱼,"saung"为弦乐器。据中国《新唐书·骠传》有关"鼍首筝"的记载："筝二：其一形如鼍,长四尺,有四足，虚腹，以鼍皮饰背面及仰肩如琴，广七寸，腹阔八寸，尾长尺余,卷上,虚中施关，以张九弦，左右一十八柱；其一面饰彩花，传以虺皮为别。"现代缅甸流传的鳄鱼琴已改为古舟形，有弦3根，定弦为G、d、g，12品，琴体侧面和上面饰有象牙雕刻花纹。琴弦由丝弦改为两根尼龙弦（高音弦）和 1根金属弦（低音弦）。演奏时将琴平置架上，左手按弦，右手用固定于食指上的象牙拨子弹拨。高音弦奏旋律，低音弦为固定低音伴奏。鳄鱼琴的音色浑厚柔美，所奏乐曲具有独特的韵味，多用于合奏，也能独奏。
