本品为紫葳科植物密花角蒿Incarvilla compacta Maxim.的干燥全草。花盛期采集，洗净泥土，晾干。
【性状】
本品根圆柱状，上端常残留有茎和叶的残基，质脆，断面类白色至淡黄色，皮部颜色较深，疏松，颗粒状，髓明显。叶皱缩，完整叶片长矩圆形，羽状全裂，裂片大小不一,暗绿至淡黄色。花皱缩，淡紫色或黑褐色；湿展后呈漏斗状,先端5浅裂,雄蕊4，柱头漏斗形，偶见蒴果，具4棱。气微，味淡。
【炮制】
除去杂质，切段。
【性味】
温，苦、甘。
【功能与主治】
调经活血，祛风湿，消炎利耳，益脉。种子用于中耳炎；根用于虚弱，头晕，胸闷，腹胀，咳嗽，月经不调；叶用于咳嗽。
【用法与用量】
3～5g。
【贮藏】
置通风干燥处。
