集合的范畴〔c助吧卿of aset;嘟.飞甲.~ecr.] 一个集合“总体”的拓扑特征.拓扑空间X的子集E称为在X中是第一范畴的(of the first category)，如果它能够表成X中无处稠密集的有限或可数并.否则称E是第二范畴的(oftheseco沮以te即ry).有时也称第一范畴集在X中的余集为第二范畴集.在近代文献中(见「2J)，这种集合(在E目悦空间(E以沁sPa沈)中)称为剩参的(residual)或回苹的(田川成嗯比)·实数的一个非空闭集，特别是一个区间，在实数空间中不是第一范畴的(【l」).这个结论可以推广到任意完全度量空间上去，这种推广在分析中有着广泛的应用.第一范畴集在分析中的作用类似于测度论中的零集.但是，第一范畴集可以是满测度集，而零集之中也有第二范畴集.[补注】第一范畴集也称为贫集(mea罗r seo，众所周知的Baire范畴定理(Baire category theorem)(见[Al」)指出，一个完全度量空间不是自身的第一范畴集. 非零的贫集以及非贫的零集的例子可以在「A21中定理5.5找到.
