| 镇 中国由县管辖的基层行政单位。一般为县政府所在地或 工商业贸易活动为主的小城镇居民点，相当于乡一级政权。 1984年国务院批转民政部《关于调整建镇标准的报告》中规定：县级地方国家机关所在地应设镇；总人口在2万以下的乡、乡政府驻地非农业人口超过2000的，可以建镇；总人口在2万以上的乡、乡政府驻地非农业人口占全乡人口10％以上的，也可以建镇。少数民族地区，人口稀少的边远地区，山区和小型工矿区、小港口、风景旅游、边境口岸等地，非农业人口虽不足2000，如确有必要，也可设镇。至1992年底，中国共有14539个镇。 |
