| 天花 smallpox 天花病毒引起的烈性传染病 。 主要表现为严重的全身中毒症状和循序成批出现的斑疹、丘疹、疱疹、脓疱等皮疹，最后常遗留瘢痕。曾在全世界流行，传染性强、病死率高，对人类危害极大。幸存者的面部经常遗留麻斑。自从广泛接种牛痘以后，天花发病率明显降低，至1960年以后，天花在中国停止传播。1980年世界卫生组织宣布天花已在全世界彻底消灭。随着天花的彻底消灭，全世界已停止接种牛痘。但天花仍可能重新流行，这是由于：①还有少数实验室保存天花病毒。②某些动物病毒与天花病毒很类似，如猴痘病毒虽主要在猴群中传播，少数情况下也可传播给人；白痘病毒虽也仅见于野生动物，但与天花病毒非常相似，能在人类引起流行。③在民间还保留人痘材料（天花病毒）的可能性尚难完全排除。对此需保持警惕。
