【植物形态】

四方麻多年生木质草本，高1～1.5米。茎有线棱。叶互生，纸质，矩圆形至广披针形，长4～13厘米，宽1.5～4.5厘米，先端渐尖，基部圆，边缘有锯齿；叶柄长3～4毫米。穗状花序顶生，长3～15厘米；小苞片1枚，矩圆状，比萼长；萼4裂；花冠紫红色，钟状，裂片4，略作2唇形。长约4毫米，三角状，内表面在管口下有毛一环；雄蕊2；雌蕊1。蒴果卵圆形，长约4毫米，2裂。花期9～10月。果期12月至翌年1月。生于河边、草丛或灌丛中。分布广西、湖南等地。

【性味】

苦，寒，无毒。

【功用主治】

清热，解毒，消肿，止痛，生肌长肉。治红白痢，喉痛，目赤，黄肿，淋病，下疳，刀伤，痈疽，瘰疬，皮肤溃疡，湿疹，烫伤。

【用法与用量】

内服：煎汤，3～5钱。外用：研末调敷，捣敷或捣汁涂。

【选方】

①治痢疾，黄疸，口疮，尿血：四方麻全草五钱。水煎服。 ②治火眼：四方麻全草捣汁，加冰片和匀点眼。 ③治刀伤出血：四方麻全草捣烂，敷患处。 ④治脚踝肿：四方麻全草煎水洗。 ⑤治疔毒：四方麻叶捣烂，敷患处，或水煎内服。 ⑥治痄腮：四方麻全草五钱，水煎服。 ⑦治蛇咬伤：四方麻、石荠苧、文珠蓝，八角莲。捣敷患处。(性味以下出《湖南药物志》)
