【蓝十字住院费用保险合作社】亦称“蓝十字会”。以社区为范围的非营利性住院医疗保险合作组织。1936年由美国和加拿大各州类似性质的机构合并而成。该社和各社区医院签订合约，对被保险社员提供住院治疗的保障。其保险费和给付标准因地而略有区别，治疗费用不直接付予社员，而由医院与蓝十字结算划拨。该社很少使用免赔额、等待期、共同保险等限制性条款。其组织管理由各地分支机构设立的经理委员会或委托医院负责。
