      近代汉族民间叙事诗。又名《抗粮传》。19世纪中叶产生并流传在湖北崇阳一带。孙敬文等整理,于1957年出版。
  
  诗篇写清朝钟九(人杰)领导农民起义抗粮的故事。范文澜《中国近代史》记载:"一八四一年,湖北崇阳人钟人杰聚众数千人起义,自号钟勤王,并竖都督大元帅红旗,次年战败被杀。"叙事诗以这一历史事件为题材,塑造了钟九这一农民领袖形象。
  
  叙事诗通过当时崇阳县衙“粮房”借乡民"完国课"之机,贪得无厌、巧取豪夺的典型事例,揭露了清王朝的政治腐败。"粮房"横行,民不聊生。金太和、钟人杰等领头向官府告状,遭到失败,又告到武昌,总督令抚院审理此案,并治"粮房"贪赃之罪。然而,封建社会官官相护,重立的"粮房",更加严酷地压榨百姓。钟人杰聚众两次砸"粮房",领导起义。起义队伍占领了崇阳县城,斩了县官。诗篇写起义胜利的情景,气势宏伟,振奋人心。
  
  叙事诗中钟九的形象,具有典型意义。他急公好义,智勇双全,纪律严明,威震四方。钟九反的是"贪官污吏",但相信好皇帝。钟九为了不让崇阳人民遭受血洗之难,"自坐囚笼去面圣",贪官将钟九半路暗杀。
  
  钟九起义失败,但他舍己为人的大公无私精神,在崇阳一带一直鼓舞着农民反抗清王朝黑暗势力的斗志。
  
  《钟九闹漕》,以口头和手抄本两种方式在民间流传。诗长约1500余行,全部用五句头山歌形式,以七言五句为一诗段,前四句对称,第五句是第四句的引伸和深化。音律上常与第四句尾音叶韵。是典型的五句头山歌形式的叙事诗。
  
  汉族地区口头流传的叙事诗较为罕见,《钟九闹漕》被认为是近代汉族民间叙事诗的代表作之一。
