性质:又称氧化亚锰。草绿或灰绿色立方晶系粉末或八面体结晶。密度5.43~5.46g/cm3。熔点1650℃。3400℃时升华。溶于酸和氯化铵,不溶于水。在空气中易氧化,加热易转变为四氧化三锰、三氧化二锰、二氧化锰等高价氧化锰。由软锰矿还原焙烧,反应产物在隔绝空气条件下进行冷却制得。也可将任何其他氧化锰在氢气中加热制得。还可由氢氧化锰、碳酸锰、与空气隔绝加热制得。用作生产铁氧体的原料,涂料和清漆的干燥剂,制造戊醇的催化剂,饲料辅助剂,微量元素肥料。也用于医药、冶炼、焊接、织物还原印染、玻璃着色、油脂漂白、陶瓷及干电池的制造等。
