| 大气中层 atmospheric mesosphere 从平流层顶至85千米高度左右的大气层 。此层内臭氧已极少，氮、氧等气体所能直接吸收的波长更短的太阳辐射已被上层吸收。因此，层内温度分布类似于对流层，随高度的升高，气温迅速降低 。到中层顶，气温可降到-83℃以下。中层内有明显的对流运动和乱流混合，因此又被称为高空的对流层。夏季，由于对流强，有时在极地地区可产生很薄的云，由于此层内水气极少，一般在地面不易观测到，有时在日出前、日落后，太阳光照到中层，可以观测到此云，因而称为夜光云。中层处于电离层下部，有时可测到极光。 |
