使用移动的环形滤带作过滤介质，并以负压为过滤推动力的连续过滤机。图1为带式真空过滤机的结构和工作原理。水平滤带由辊子带动，滤带下方安装真空盘和管线，用以吸出滤液和洗液。在滤带一端加悬浮液，首先滤去液体形成滤渣，然后对滤渣进行洗涤和脱水，在滤带的另一端卸渣，滤带返回时在下部清洗再生。在真空过滤之前，有时增设重力沉降区，使较粗的颗粒先沉降在过滤面上，以利过滤。有的过滤机在卸渣端加压辊挤压滤渣，使滤渣的含液量进一步降低。操作真空的绝对压力为(0.25～0.8)×105 帕，滤带的移动速度为0.3～30米／分,根据过滤的难易程度选择，并以此调节滤渣厚度。滤带起过滤和传送滤渣两种作用。带宽0.5～2米，大多用合成纤维织物制成。带式真空过滤机适用于易过滤的物料，如磷酸盐、催化剂、亚硫酸纸浆等的过滤脱液。这种过滤机的新发展型式是带式真空压榨过滤机（图2）。它的特点是悬浮液先在真空过滤下滤去大量液体，形成半固态的湿滤渣。然后湿滤渣进入上、下滤带之间，通过一系列交错配置的压辊，在滤带张力和通过压辊时正反向的弯曲作用下受到压榨和剪切，进一步除去液体。配合使用凝聚剂，带式真空压榨过滤机可用于污泥之类较难过滤物料的脱液。
