性质:具有潜在致癌作用的化学品。这类化学品以动物试验结果有致癌作用,但在人群流行病学调查中无明确的致癌性证据,尚不能认为是人体的致癌性化学物质。1985年美国环境保护局公布了200种潜在致癌物及其危害等级。其中大多数为有机物和农药,如屈、五氯硝基苯、苯巴比妥、四氯乙烯、丙烯腈、糖精、氯丹、杀草强、六氯丁二烯;也有一部分无机物,如磷酸铅、砷酸钠、氯化镉等。
