In a 600 mm diameter column, hydromechanics of CTST-8 including pressure drop, entrainment and weeping liquid was studied.

Pressure drop,weeping and entrainment of serrated valve tray were measured and compared with those of F1 valve tray.

Reasonable structure of the tray was achieved relying on measuring its important (hydrodynamic) features such as pressure drop between trays,weeping,entrainment etc.

The reasons of local liquid leakage and difficulty in overhauling of the dead trays in rectifying tower kettle for butadiene extraction were analyzed and the coupling and sealing structure of dead trays were redesigned.
