| 面理 foliation 岩石在变质和变形过程中形成的小尺度透入性面状构造的统称。一译叶理。有时也指在成岩过程中形成的透入性面状构造，如火成岩中的流面。面理主要由不同矿物组分构成的分层、片状矿物或不等轴矿物的定向排列以及一系列近于平行的连续面而表现出来。常见于片岩、片麻岩、板岩、千枚岩、糜棱岩、千糜岩中，其突出的特征是多个面彼此平行排列。面理主要类型是劈理，具有劈理的岩石可以分成两部分，即劈理面(或称劈理域)与介于二劈理面之间的微劈石，根据识别这两部分的尺度，劈理分为两类：①须借助偏光显微镜识别的称连续劈理，包括板劈理、千枚理、片理。②肉眼可以识别的称不连续劈理，包括褶劈理和间隔劈理，前者指以一定间距切过先存连续劈理的近于平行的不连续面，后者指使微劈石截然分开的裂面。面理还包括糜棱面理及片麻理等。
