(术语)一心观想水,观法成就,则在水得自然,于身之内外,现出水,亦得随意,是为水定。楞严经曰:“月光童子白佛言:我忆往昔恒河沙劫有佛出世,名为水天,教诸菩萨修习水观。(中略)我于是时初成此观,但见其水未见无身。当为比丘,室中安禅。我有弟子,窥窗观室。唯见清水,遍在室中,了无所见。童稚无知,取一瓦砾投于水内,激水作声,顾眄而去。我出定后顿觉心痛,我自思惟:今我已得阿罗汉道,久离病缘,云何今日忽生心痛?将无退出,尔时童子捷来我所,说如上事。我则答言:汝更见水,可即开门,入此水中,除去瓦砾。童子奉教,后入定时,还复见水,瓦砾宛然,开门除去。我后出定,身质如初。”唐高僧传(法进传)曰:“法进常于寺后竹林坐水观。家人取柴,见绳床上有好清水,拾两白石安著水中。进暮还寺,觉背痛。问其家人,云安石子。语令明往可除此石,及旦进禅,家人还见如初清水,即除石子,所苦即愈。”
