In the strategic management field, the resource-picking mechanism and the capability-building mechanism explained successfully how firms create the short-term economic rents, but concerning the long-term economic rents, these two rent-creation mechanisms become unavailing.

Based on the resource-based theory and the economic rent theory,this paper analyses the issue of rents brought about by core technologies of enterprises,reveals the causes of different performances due to core technology resources among enterprises and puts forward the proposal to maintain core technology rent.
