【性状】
本品为无色或几乎无色的澄明液体，有刺激性特臭、能刺激鼻喉黏膜； 在冷处久置易发生浑浊。 本品能与水或乙醇任意混合。
【鉴别】
(1) 取本品5 滴，置试管中，加水1ml 稀释后，加氨制硝酸银试液3 滴 ，即析出银，成细微的灰色沉淀，或在管壁生成光亮的银镜。 (2) 取本品少量，加品红亚硫酸试液与稀盐酸数滴，即显红色。
【检查】
酸度 取本品5.0ml ，加水5ml 与酚酞指示液2 滴，用氢氧化钠滴定液 (0.1mol/L)滴定至溶液显粉红色，消耗氢氧化钠滴定液(0.1mol/L)不得过1.0ml 。
【含量测定】
取本品约1.5ml ，精密称定，置锥形瓶中，加水10ml、过氧化氢试 液25ml与溴麝香草酚蓝指示液2 滴，滴加氢氧化钠滴定液(1mol/L)至溶液显蓝色；再精 密加入氢氧化钠滴定液(1mol/L)25ml，瓶口置一玻璃小漏斗，置水浴上加热15分钟，不 时振摇，冷却，用水洗涤漏斗，加溴麝香草酚蓝指示液2 滴，用盐酸滴定液(1mol/L)滴 定至溶液显黄色，并将滴定的结果用空白试验校正。每1ml氢氧化钠滴定液(1mol/L) 相当于30.03mg 的CH2O。
